NJCM Membership

The Dutch Section of the International Commission of Jurists (NJCM) is one of the most authoritative organizations that are active in the field of human rights in the Netherlands. NJCM was founded in 1974.

Activities

NJCM has defended human rights in the Netherlands and the Dutch foreign policy since 1974. In this regard, experts and engaged (unremunerated) volunteers follow with scrutiny the social and political developments that affect human rights in the Netherlands. NJCM particularly exerts its influence through commentaries on legislative proposals and governmental policy, writing and coordinate shadow reports and lobbying with politicians, journalists, policymakers and civil society organizations on a national and international level.

NJCM also contributes to a broader and more profound knowledge of human rights with the NJCM-Bulletin, and the organization of seminars. Furthermore, NJCM is represented at a variety of forums that deal with human rights. These are inter alia the Commission Meijers, the Wide Human Rights Consultation (BMO), the Wide Human Rights Consultation the Netherlands (BMO NL) and Human Rights Education Platform (PMRE). NJCM is supported by a professional secretariat.
