The last year’s latest issue of the NTM/NJCM-Bulletin has published an article written by Leonie Huijbers, coordinator of the PILP-file ‘extinction policy traveller sites’ with the title ‘The mobile sites’ policy in the Netherlands from a human rights point of view’(NTM/NJCM-Bull. 2015, p. 387-417).
In this article Huijbers assess the broad human rights framework with regard to the policy in the Netherlands by which she explains the negative and positive obligations of the State with respect to Roma, Sinti and Travellers. She states that even though the underlying strategy for integration of the Netherlands is no issue as it stands, the policies upheld by municipalities deriving from this strategy, however, are in non-accordance with the human rights standards.
